Precision flow control using a precision machined paddle type orifice plate relies upon a correct installation. If the plate is incorrectly installed it will give unknown inaccuracies in the measured flow and could lead to a costly loss of product. To overcome this, AVCO provides complete ASME B16.36 orifice flange sets to ensure accurate centralization of the orifice bore to the flange bore per the requirements of ASME MFC-3M, ASME MFC-14M, AGA 3 and ISO 5167-2. The orifice flange sets are available in sizes ½” thru 24” and pressure classes up to ANSI class 2500 and are primarily supplied as raised face weld neck flanges. Other flange facings and types can be supplied upon request to meet your specific needs and requirements. Each orifice flange set comprises, pre-tapped orifice flanges, orifice plate, gaskets, jack screws, studs and nuts. We also highly recommend the inclusion of location dowel pins to ensure greater accuracy with repeatable precise assembly. All orifice flange sets are available with standard bores meeting pipe schedules from SCH 5S thru SCH XXS, however, ASME MFC-3M, AGA 3 and ISO 5167 require the bore immediately upstream of the orifice plate to be within +/- 0.3% or +/- 0.25% of the mean measured bore, therefore AVCO recommends the bore be machined to meet these requirements which may fall outside of the standard pipe tolerances.
